Socials Producer - Elections Dec 2020

The Socials Producer is in charge of organising more informal events for our members. Quizzes, film discussions, book clubs… whatever you feel our members will enjoy! Given that COVID-19 has limited our ability to hold in-person events, you might only be able to schedule online socials, but the Union could allow in-person activity to happen in 2021.

Hi guys! My name’s Nikita Vasyukov and I am a first-year Economics student coming from Russia.

I have to admit, I don’t have such an extensive experience of exploring the world of cinema, as many people in the society do, and this something that I’m looking forward to catching up on in the next term.

As for now, I’m going to tell you why I’m applying for the Socials Producer role. As a fresher in Covid times, I found my university experience not as easy as it could be in previous years due to all the social restrictions in place. By uptaking this role, I want to provide you with a great variety of events ranging from movie quizzes to weekly chatting socials. I believe that these kinds of events will let you find new friends and try to make your university experience a little bit better.

My experience of using IT technologies will help me in making the sessions as interactive as possible and I hope I will not disappoint you. Without a doubt, I will take all the feedback into consideration, because my main goal is to deliver the best social experience for you, so make sure to hit me up if you have any suggestions in mind.

I’m very excited to get a chance to contribute to the UCL Film & TV Society and I can’t wait to meet you virtually and in real life!

Hi! 😊 My name is Alexia Mihaila; I’m a first-year Arts and Sciences student from Romania and I’d like to nominate myself for the Socials Producer position!

I have plenty of experience in organizing events since high school, organizing clubs such as Ted-ED (where I mentored students on public speaking techniques), for example. However, what makes me a great fit for the position is my creativity. The Film Society is a realm of possibilities when it comes to Socials; everyone watches films, all it takes for people to join are good marketing techniques, which the Marketing Officer will know better.
I think Zoom Socials are still great until we can meet in person because there are so many opportunities; it’s a silver lining!
Some events that I have in mind would be a collaboration with the Writers Society on a social where we discuss books vs film/tv adaptations, or themed video screenings (for example having to dress up as characters of a movie), if not done before, that would be perfect for the Rocky Horror Picture Show since that is what made the movie a cult classic!
Also, I love Film and TV so it would be great for me to work closely with the society and develop my film culture since, for now, I still favor rom-coms over Oscar bids.
I’d love to be the Socials Producer because it seems a fun, creative position I can work out very well having prior experience in organizing Art socials! I’m also a good listener, so if you have any other suggestions, do let me know!
