Have you ever wanted to hold the reins of a big project, to oversee a film production from start to finish? Starting now, students can apply to become the producer of FilmSoc’s 2020/2021 Term 1 Film.
Producer
You have until the Wednesday 4th November at 6pm to write one side of an A4 sheet (max) to tell us why you should be this term’s producer. A producer must be organized, invested in the project, be able to work around time and budget constraints, be able to solve problems and show perseverance, determination and passion. You are the motor of the film, and we want to see this come through in your application.
Once all applications have been received, we will select a few people for a ‘face-to-face’ chat (on zoom) with a panel composed of Film Society committee members to select the producer. This will probably take place after 4pm on Friday 6th November- if you are not free on that date, please let us know in your application and we will sort something out. You should also ideally be available for the writers’ panel discussion, which will be taking place on Friday 13th November.
All bids are to be emailed to uclfilmsociety@gmail.com before the deadline. Please also CC your applications to lucasgonsalezpavesio@gmail.com.
Shooting will (hopefully, unless government guidelines change drastically) take place on the 5th-6th and/or 12-13th of December, so please make sure you can make those dates before you submit an application!
PERSONAL STATEMENT GUIDELINES:
- What are the qualities that make a good producer? Please give examples of situations in the past where you have demonstrated these qualities.
- Do you have previous experience in making films? If so, please tell us a bit more about your experience (does not necessarily have to be producing).
PLEASE NOTE: You need to be a Production Member of the society to bid for and be involved.
Writer
More into the writing side of things? If you want to try your hand at a short film script or already have a script you’ve been toying with this is the perfect opportunity.
Send us a one-page treatment, along with 2 pages of a script (these do not necessarily have to be the opening pages – any two pages will do), by 9PM Friday 13th November. A panel of committee members will then invite a few writers for a discussion (on zoom) of their idea on Monday 16th November, and after that we will pick the treatment which we think has the most potential. We will judge the treatments mainly on the idea and their originality, but also on their feasibility for a low-budget, student production.
Treatments are to be emailed to uclfilmsociety@gmail.com before the relevant deadline. Please also CC your applications to lucasgonsalezpavesio@gmail.com
