Every year Filmsoc broadcasts the London Varsity Series, a series of sports matches between age old rivals UCL and KCL, this year taking place between the 16th - 20th March.
We’re already planning for an even bigger scale Varsity broadcast this year, which means we’re opening up applications for 2 producers:
Featurette Producer:
This is a pre-recorded segment including behind the scenes shots of training sessions and interviews with the teams. We’re looking for someone to *produce and direct *this segment, overseeing the shoot and post-production. We’re really looking to inject some creativity into this this year! There’s no need to be a sports fanatic; this is a great opportunity for anyone interested in unscripted broadcast - this year the Student’s Union is going to push for the series to be broadcast in SU bars and across campus, which is a big deal!
This will be happening late January / early February, ready way in advance of the final broadcast in March.
Commentary producer:
This year we’re for the first time introducing a live on-camera commentary segment, where the commentators will sit in a studio-like booth which we will cut to during half time as well as before and after the match. We’re looking for someone to direct this and manage the commentators. Effectively, you will be in control of the final commentary product, both in terms of the style of the content and it’s visual execution. For this role we’re ideally looking for someone with a cross-over interest in radio and broadcast - even better if you’re familiar with sport!
This will be happening in the build-up to March.
