Here are some links to videos and other online resources to help you get started with using the various filming equipment we have at FilmSoc. These generally cover the basic functions and settings available on our cameras and sound recording kit.
Have a look through these resources, and many other sources online for learning about the different settings functions on our equipment. Then, if you have any questions or want to fiddle around and experiment with the equipment to hand, come along to our Drop In sessions in the studio! These Drop Ins would also be a great way for you to demonstrate your familiarity with the kit - something we look to establish before processing equipment bookings.
See the forum, our instagram page, or telegram chat for more details on the timings of these.

Lenses:
Basics (photography focused but same principles apply to cine lenses. Main difference between a cine and photography lens is the static vs fluid aperture [or Iris might be used in filmmaker’s terms]. With cine lenses you can flexibly alternate between the different f stops whereas photography lenses you’re stuck at 2.8, 4, 5.6, etc.)
