Sign up for the 48 hour film challenge, taking place over the weekend of the 9th-11th of October.
Filmsoc is hosting our annual 48 hour film challenge! The aim is to write, shoot and edit a film within a 48 hour period, with a limited crew, equipment, resources and, of course, time.
We’re looking for several teams of up to 6 people to compete. Sign up here before 23:59 on Thursday 8th: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmpJNATbP0plXo-5vTi-Xl7vARzDSuU2v5rVOIhBelSMDa4w/viewform?usp=sf_link. Don’t worry if you don’t already have a team- sign yourself up and we’ll assign you a team. You will be told which team you’re in by 16:00 on Friday 9th as we aim for a 20:00 start to the challenge. Due to the constraints of coronavirus those wishing to be on a team by themselves or only with members of their households will also be allowed to compete (please specify this on the form).
The film will have to include a specific line of of dialogue and a specific prop, to be announced on Friday night. All footage must be shot and edited during the 48 hour period.
The challenge will take place over 3 days. It will start at 20:00 on Friday, where instructions and certain constraints will be given. The teams will then have until 20:00 on Sunday to complete the film, when they will submit the films to us and they will be judged by a small panel. It would be rude not to give prizes to the winners…
The challenge is NOT about making the best looking film- you will NOT be able to rent out the BlackMagic 4K for example, or any lights. Given the current circumstances we can’t guarantee we will be able to provide a DSLR, tripod and microphone for all teams but we will do our best to get this done. Either way the aim is to be creative with the restraints and create something unique.
There is absolutely NO FILMMAKING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED, only enthusiasm and passion.
Join us for an adrenaline-packed, sleepless, mad and creative weekend! We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible!
