Bullied at school and ignored and abused at home by his indifferent mother and older brother, Billy Casper, a 15-year-old working-class Yorkshire boy, tames and trains his pet kestrel falcon whom he names Kes. One of the defining films of Ken Loach’s career, the brutal social realism of Kes combined with a touching sense of faith in the good at the heart of human nature makes this an unforgettable watch.
