Filmsoc is hosting Quarantine film challenge! The aim is to write, shoot and edit a film within a 48 hour period, with a limited crew, equipment, resources and, of course, time. No Membership required. It will be taking place from the 29th to the 31st of January, with an online screening of all the films on the 2nd of February.
Unfortunately this year the society’s ability to make films has been badly hit by the pandemic. However, we’re trying not to go down without a fight. If anything, this year you all have even more time to dedicate to insane projects like this…
We’re looking for several teams, each an individual household, to compete. Sign up here before 23:59 on 27th January: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfOBOHmqcYLQZq-TPlt0Id5IwUBOUad5Uoo3QwPRVAeDZQQYA/viewform?usp=sf_link
Only one member of your household needs to sign up. You will be told which team you’re in by Friday 29th January as we aim for a 20:00 start to the challenge.
The film will have to include a specific line of of dialogue and a specific prop, to be announced on Friday night. All footage must be shot and edited during the 48 hour period.
The challenge will take place over 3 days. It will start at 20:00 on Friday, where instructions and certain constraints will be given. The teams will then have until 20:00 on Sunday to complete the film, when they will submit the films to us and they will be judged by a small panel. It would be rude not to give prizes to the winners…
The challenge is NOT about making the best looking film. The aim is to be creative with the restraints and create something unique. Any camera, lights or microphone you have with you will be more than enough to go crazy and have hopefully have fun!
There is absolutely NO FILMMAKING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED, only enthusiasm and passion.
Join us for an adrenaline-packed, sleepless, mad and creative weekend! We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible!
